July Meeting report

About 60 people came out for our second meeting — a very good number considering how many are on vacation or just plain tired out from the heat.   With goals that include more audience participation and getting involved in local governments, the meeting is making excellent progress.  Reports were given from both Berkeley and Dorchester County Councils, Summerville Town Council, and DD2 school board meetings.  Clearly our members are getting out and keeping an eye on our elected officials!

The first draft of the bylaws were presented for membership input, causing the only discord of the evening — not at all unusual for new groups.  After some spirited discussion, they were sent back to committee for revisions.

New member badges were on display.  Once a membership is established, we hope that people will wear them in order to let those same elected officials know that our members are watching and will go back to the group to report on how our government is working.
