Carroll Duncan (chairman of the Dorchester County GOP) and Debbie (Mt. Pleasant 9.12) were on hand to support Scott. About 25 Tea Party members and 9.12ers mingled with about 30 union members.
I was at both the NLRB hearing and at the Scott rally. Scott is doing an excellent job of representing the majority of his constituents. Notice I said “majority.” Somehow the minority has gotten the upper hand in America but that’s changing. At the rally I spoke to many of the Union people there. None of them acknowledged knowing that in some places it is mandatory for nonunion workers to have union dues automatically taken out of their paychecks. If they don’t know something that important, it made me question just how much they do know. They said they were local… maybe so, maybe they were longshoremen. When Scott arrived, he was immediately swamped by union people who began shouting in his face. Scott stood his ground and argued point by point. They accused him of being anti-union, but in fact, the unions are anti-choice.
Scott didn’t leave until anyone who wanted a word with him got it. I left with even more respect for him as a person as well as my Representative. —Linda
